2012 October 10-12 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : AQAN Conference

As a full-member of the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN), the National Agency for Academic Assessment and Accreditation (NAAAA) participated for the 3rd times since it became a full member in 2010 for this global network conference which was held for 2 days; from 10th – 11th October, and Roundtable meeting for full members at 12th October 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The forum themed - 'Building Regional Confidence towards Harmonizing Higher Education of the ASEAN Plus Three Countries'- was attended by the representatives of quality assurance agencies, higher education institutions and ministries from the ASEAN Plus Three and ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) member countries and MQA's quality partners as well as local participants from the higher education institutions.  The two-day program was officiated by the Honorable Minister of Higher Education Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The hosting Agency for the events was the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), where this time Timor-Leste has 4 representatives to participate in this regional event. 


The participants from Timor-Leste are:  

1.     Ms. Dirce Belo (Quality Officer, NAAAA)

2.     Mrs. Elsa Maria Correia (National Director of National Directorate of Higher Education)

3.     Mr. Urbanus Bunga Lolon (Rector of ICR, Dili)

4.     Mr. Miguel Maia (IQA Unit, National University of Timor Lorosa’e)


The main objectives of this year’s conference are:

i). to serve as a platform of exchanges in exploring the commonalities of higher education quality frameworks among the ASEAN+ 3 countries;

ii). to produce a set of principle statements for a national quality assurance framework which serve as an advisory document to facilitate harmonization of higher education among the ASEAN+ 3 countries.

Apart from being member of AQAN, Timor Leste (NAAAA/ANAAA) is also member of the Asia-Pacific Quality Assurance Network (APQN), the network of quality assurance in Asia Pacific region, and the International Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education INQAAHE, the global network for quality assurance.
